Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment
Skin resurfacing works by creating thousands of microscopic perforations in the surface of the skin. As the dots in the skin heal they pull the skin together, significantly improving texture and laxity.
Natura Skin Clinic uses the SmartXide Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment as a safe, effective way to treat sun damage, uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, poor texture, large skin pores, sun spots, brown spots, acne scars, surgical scars, melasma and stretch marks.
How It Works
SmartXide is a carbon dioxide laser that stimulates rejuvenation by targeting the area with a small wand-like device. Unlike other CO2 lasers, the SmartXide removes a customised pattern of thousands of microscopic ‘dots’ rather than the entire skin surface so there is no longer the discomfort and downtime of previous laser machines.
The high-energy laser causes the outer layers of the epidermis to peel away as the skin heals. The laser also heats the dermis, which stimulates the production of new collagen.
As the new skin cells develop, the face becomes smoother, firmer and more youthful.
The SmartXide allows our doctors to treat the whole face and neck in approximately half an hour. The treatment is precise and fast; patients don’t require general anaesthetic, just an anaesthetic cream that numbs the area making the treatment virtually pain-free. SmartXide can be used either as a treatment on its own or as part of our multi-layer skin rejuvenation.
The initial post-treatment redness lasts, in most patients, no more than 72 hours. Results are noticeable after a week or so, and continue to develop for 3-6 months. The number of treatments required varies from patient to patient.
