Julie Bowen: Modern Mother, Modern Family
Modern Family is one of the highest rated shows on TV today, and for good reason. The entire cast, including Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy) is hilariously funny and heart-warmingly genuine. When recently asked about cosmetic treatments in the latest issue of Health magazine, the actress was as genuine and truthful as her on-screen character.
Asked by the magazine how she maintained her looks despite being mother to three young boys, Bowen, 42, had no problem opening up about the procedures that keep her looking so amazing. She said, “I’ve had lasers levelled at my face, and I would like to do Fraxel, the deep one where you go undercover afterward. But the results are astounding, as if someone blew time off your face. I’ve got zero judgment about it.”
It has also been long speculated that the actress has also received some rather ‘conservative’ Botox injections. Meaning the actress has retained movement, something important to actors, whilst at the same time preventing the onset and deepening of wrinkles. The image below shows the actress in 2001 before beginning treatment (left) and later in 2011 (right).
Celebrities aren’t the only ones who can benefit from laser treatments. In fact, there has been a huge increase in both men and women electing dermatological laser treatments in the past 5 years for a range of skin concerns
Laser skin resurfacing is an extremely versatile procedure that can address a variety of cosmetic concerns, including:
- Fine lines
- Moderate wrinkles
- Age spots
- Enlarged pores
- Acne scars
- Sun damage
- Uneven skin tone
At Natura we use the SmartXide CO2 Fractional Laser. Similar to Fraxel, SmartXide is a carbon dioxide laser that rejuvenates skin by targeting the area with a small wand-like device. By removing a customised pattern of thousands of microscopic ‘dots’ rather than the entire skin surface there is no longer the uncomfortable downtime of previous laser machines. The laser’s high-energy causes the outer layers of the skin to peel away as it heals. In addition to this, the laser also stimulates the production of new collagen by heating the dermis. The result? Skin becomes smoother, firmer and more youthful as the new skin cells develop,
Factors such as your skin tone and level of skin thickness, along with your cosmetic goals will dictate which laser skin resurfacing procedure is right for you.
