It seems even the world’s most beautiful people can suffer from the embarrassing symptoms of hyperhidrosis. Halle Berry had been photographed on several occasions in the past with moisture patches under her arms.
The Oscar nominated actress even spoke about the problem on TV show Ellen in 2010 after the burgundy dress she was wearing, unforgivingly let the world in on her problem. Lifting her arms above her head, she joked that she had felt nervous for a dance group due to appear on the same show. It seems Halle was suffering from excessive sweating, otherwise known as hyperhidrosis.
Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that occurs when the surrounding temperature isn’t hot and you are not exercising. Hyperhidrosis usually affects the palms of the hands, soles of the feet and underarms. Besides disrupting normal daily activities, hyperhidrosis can cause social anxiety or embarrassment.
But fast forward 2 years and you would be pushed to find another image of the actress in the same damp, predicament.
So what did Halle do?
One treatment option is underarm Botox. Botox is the product name for injections containing a refined form of botulinum toxin known as Type A. Botox is most commonly associated with anti ageing procedures but when injected into areas of the skin that produce excess sweat, it effectively reduces perspiration. Botox blocks the actions of the nerves that supply the eccrine glands; this prevents the glands from producing sweat.
The treatment itself is quick and painless and, just 20 minutes after your treatment, you are ready to continue with your day or go back to work. Using a very fine needle, Botox is injected into multiple sites under the arm. You should notice a reduction in sweating within the first week after your treatment. This treatment can last up to 6 months.

As summer draws to a close and the days grow shorter, temperatures drop and the air becomes drier. Now the children are back at school, why not treat your skin to our post summer rejuvenation treatments. The months before the truly cold, British winter sets in, are the perfect time for you to correct any damage caused over summer and prepare your skin for the harsh months ahead.
Sun, chlorine and saltwater may have taken its toll on your skin throughout summer, so autumn is the time to exfoliate and rehydrate your skin. This will give your skin the best start when the harsher winter weather sets in.
Where should you start?
Polish And Smooth With Dermabrasion
Post summer skin can look dehydrated so exfoliation is extremely important as it gets rid of the dead and damaged cells. This causes your skin to look dull and lifeless. By doing this you will prepare the skin so that it can absorb more moisture and give a smooth surface.
Laser Dermabrasion is perfect for helping you regain a smoother skin surface following sun exposure. Laser Dermabrasion works without the need of chemicals and is extremely simple, virtually painless and for all ages. It’s frequently used on the neck, hands and décolletage, as well as the face. The peel is a controlled depth peel performed with the Erbium YAG laser that results in very little downtime. The laser lightly ablates the very top layers of the skin causing it to peel. This makes the skin appear clearer and more refreshed. The downtime can be anywhere from a couple of hours to 2-3 days depending on the depth of treatment and area treated.

Treat Thirsty Skin To Hydration
Exposure to the sun causes dehydration, and wrinkles and fine lines can appear on the skin. The moisture lost needs to be properly supplemented before the onset of winter. During the summer months, exposure to UVA/B light causes hyaluronic acid to break down. Hyaluronic acid gives skin volume and support, without this skin loses its firmness and fine lines and wrinkles can develop. Although regular moisturising is recommended, topical creams are not able to fully penetrate the skin and hydrate from beneath like rehydration fillers can. These fillers replace the lost hyaluronic acid and give subtle, natural results.

Although the autumn sun is not as strong as it was in summer, it is still necessary for you to use your sunscreen regularly. A sunscreen with SPF of at least 15 is advised. We recommend Avene Sun Protection in SPF 50. The very high protection provided by this silky emulsion covers a very broad spectrum, and utilises an exclusive grouping of active ingredients. Skin is protected against UVB and also short and long UVA rays. There are several different creams in this range to suit all skin types.

She isn’t the first celebrity to show us their human side by posting a make up free picture on twitter. Holly Willoughby gave fans a glimpse into her home life on Sunday after waking early to put to use her domestic side and cook her family Sunday lunch.
Clearly happy with her culinary efforts, she tweeted a picture along with the caption: ‘This is shaping up to be a great Sunday!!!!
But after her busy morning, Holly, 31, revealed to her Twitter followers that despite being organised in the kitchen, she was still in her pyjamas.
Like Katy Perry and Rihanna before her, Holly posted a picture of herself preparing Sunday lunch for her family wearing just her nightie and no makeup.
She wrote: ‘Lunch done, Me however still in nightie! Makeup!x’
However, it seems the majority of British women are far less forthcoming when it comes to revealing their make up free faces. Holly’s tweet sparked a debate about whether or not other women would do the same- and it appears most of us would not.
An overwhelming 91 per cent of British women confess they would never ‘do a Holly Willoughby’ and appear in public without wearing make-up on a night out – and one third say they would never actually leave the house before putting their ‘face’ on.
Furthermore, 64 per cent would not even consider turning up at work without some degree of cosmetic retouching, and 44 per cent would never let a photo of their ‘naked’, make-up-free face be posted on Twitter.
Louise Reed, Head of Marketing at Escentual.com, the leading UK beauty website who conducted the survey, said: ‘The majority of our female customers said they would “feel naked” without their make-up in a work setting or on a night out.
‘And there’s also a significantly large number of women who would not be happy being seen au naturel on the weekend, and even more wouldn’t allow pictures of themselves without make-up to go on social media.
But what is it that makes British women feel so inadequate without their makeup?
Most women said that it was their skin condition and the worry of looking older without their makeup. Fine lines and wrinkles and skin blemishes were top of the list of concerns about their makeup free appearance.
The majority of women said they would like to be able to wear no makeup but simply lacked the confidence to do so because of the worry about appearing older or tired looking.
So what can we do?
• Laser Dermabrasion is a great way to smooth out skin blemishes and give even skin tone, meaning heavy foundations and cover up makeup are no longer needed.
• Botox and fillers, when done correctly, can smooth out lines and wrinkles and many women comment that (particularly around the eye area) they appear more ‘alert’.
If you are considering these treatments so you can go makeup free, only seek advice and treatment from fully qualified doctors with experience.
At Natura Skin Clinic we offer all our patients a free skin evaluation where our doctor will make recommendations based on your skin. So unlike the majority of British women, you can be makeup free- and confident!
